But I'm really not going to hold my breath. It's precisely because of the price trends (or stagnation, rather) of blu-ray drives, players and media that I regret ever having rooted for BD to win the format war a couple of years ago. Sony pretty well relegated their mini-Disc system to a niche market because they fixed prices on them and never took advantage of the data storage capabilities of the system. They could have blown IOmega's Zip disks out of the water.
And now they have controlling interest in the BD consortium.
